Hessischer Spessart

The nature park Hessicher Spessart is located near the Hesse-Bavarian border in the south and the Kinzig mark the boundary in the north.
Large oak and beech-tree forests characterises the low mountain range landscape of the Spessart. Specific features is the sparse used meadows and the neglected grasslands.
Due to the great fraction of woodland, the Spessart is home of a high and varied number of animal species like the rare wood grouse and different species of peckers.
The Spessart is not only a well frequented area for weekend trips, it’s often destination for summer and rest cure holidays in Bad Orb or Bad Soden- Salmünster as well.
Good signposted track paths offer you the opportunities to talk a walk or go on a hiking trip of several days' duration. Famous tracks are the “Eselweg“ and the “Birkenhainer Straße“
