Naturpark Drömling
Since approximately 200 years the Drömling represents a cultivated landscape. While only a part of the original forest of Erlenbruch is existent, grassland and acre determine the face of the landscape. Especially in the grassland and wooded areas species-rich biotopes could maintain. Together with the unique landscape of Drömling the potential for ecologically compatible touristy development of the region is coming up. The visitors of Drömling either come to discover the fauna and flora or take part at a guided tour. The Drömling is ideally developed for bicycle tours. As well as rides on the carriage are becoming highly popular. Accommodations are offered for each budget by a range of small guesthouses in the farms to hotels.
The Drömling offers its visitors, especially in the towns some sights. Like the castle of Kunrau, which was built in the Italian Renaissance style and the timbered churches in Dannefeld, Jeggau, Miesterhorst, Peckfitz, Röwitz, Trippigleben, Wenze and Wernitz. The church in Dannefeld is especially worth mentioning with its winged altar from the 16th century and a porch from the year 1735. And one may find old granges built in the timbered style or out of red bricks in several thickets and colonies. The graben system and channels for the cultivation of moor in Drömling are of special interest from a cultural- and historical perspective, like for example the Freidrichs- and Wilhelms-channel.
