Ebbegebirge

The nature park Ebbegebirge lies in a varied formed low mountain range landscape. Characteristic elements of this wooded landscape are the many dams; among them the Biggetalsperre - including Listersee – is the largest. Therefore, the nature park Ebbegebirge offers the ideal conditions for a varied and exciting excursion or holiday. Hiking, water- and winter sports are only some of the various possible leisure time activities.

The attractions of the nature park Ebbegebirge are beside the ten dams, the various watching towers, castles, churches and museums the worldwide known dripstone cave (Atahöhle) in Attendorn.

In the nature park Ebbegebirge the conservation und care of the landscape have priority. A special aim of the nature park is to inform about the relationship between geology, plant and animal world as well as to deliver knowledge about the history and culture in the Ebbegebirge as a part of the ecologic, historical and social environment.
