Harz


The nature park Harz/Saxony-Anhalt is appox. 166.00 hectares large and ranges over three districts. A part of the national park Harz, several nature and landscape reserve areas and the biosphere reserve Kastlandschaft Südharz are situated in the nature park.
The nature park Harz/Niedersachsen is 80.000 hectare large and ranges over two districts. Also a part of the geo park Harz, Braunschweiger Land, Ostfalen lies in the nature park.

The most northern low mountain range of Germany, the Harz, is formed by a varied landscape. Forests, agriculturally used areas, deep incised valleys and wild rivers emerge between the plateaus and the highs of the foreland. An unspoiled natural landscapes and evidences of a long history of settlement can be found in the nature park.
