Naturpark
Hochtaunus

Hesses' second large nature park Hochtaunus is a recreational area, which offers a lot of lovely nature and culture landscape. It’s located between Wetterau and the rivers Main and Lahn.

The Hochtaunus in the narrower sense with its highest peak, the Feldberg is a wooded mountain ridge. It’s dominated by coniferous woodland, whilst the Hintertaunus is mainly deciduous forest. The hilly landscape is characterised by expanded meadows with scattered fruit trees.

Concerning the stretch of running water, especially the Lahn River is very interesting for canoeing
The roman Limes crosses the whole nature park from the west to the east and the reconstructed fortification Saalburgkastell is a popular place of excursion as well as the Celtic ring walls.

The nature park is surrounded by the spas of Bad Nauheim, Bad Vilbel, Bad Homburg, and Königstein, Bad Soden und Bad Camberg

The nature park Hochtaunus offers a lot of nature-orientated recreation- and sporting opportunities: Hiking, canoeing, cycling and mountain biking. Moreover camping sites and barbecue places are existing and cross-country ski-tracks are provided in the wintertime.
