Naturpark
Homert

Located in the northwest of the Sauerland the nature park Homert ranges from Lennetal in the West to the Ruhrtal area in the East and from Lennestadt in the south to Hemer in the north.
Some of the mounts and ridges reach a high of 600m. The highest peak and the eponym of the nature park is the Homert. 56% of the area is covered by forest and the often chance of wood, farmland and meadows arranges a many-sided landscape.
Special places of excursion are the forest-surrounded reservoir “Sorpesee“, the reservoir “Hennesee“ near Meschede, the reservoir “Esmecke“ near Wentholthausen and the nature stage Elspe. One of the impressive Nature sites is Germanys biggest natural cave, the “Balver Cave“ and the “Recken Cave“ near Balve.
Hiking and nature-experience are in front of tourist’s the top ten. The low mountain range offers the hiker a great and very good signposted track path. Starting points are often combined with parking and barbecue places.
