Naturpark Rhein-Taunus
The nature park Rhein-Taunus is situated where the Rhine cuts its northern flow for a short time to the west. This romantic, lively and wooded area is one of the most beautiful low mountain range landscapes. Wilhelm von Humboldt described the Taunus as lovely in the springtime, as cheerful in the summer time, severe and colorful in the autumn time.
For a natural leisure time a dense network of leisure time activities were built. The warm climate supports the recreation. 130 track paths with a total length of 600 km exist. Several trails, barbecue areas, camping sites, cross-country ski runs etc. are constructed. The cities and municipalities offer a wide range of cultural events, like for example the Rheingauer wine weeks in Wiesbaden, the jazz festival in Idstein and several wine festivals.
Forest, water and wine are the characteristics of the nature park. Beside that several castles, medicinal springs, cultural monuments and the abundance of sights make the visit of the nature park Rhein-Taunus a special experience.
