Naturpark
Weserbergland

The nature park Weserbergland/Schaumburg-Weserbergland is situated in the varied transition area of the northern German lowland plain to the low mountain range. The Deister marks the boundary of the nature park in the northeast and the Bückeberg in the northwest. In the south the nature park extends along the river Weser. The landscape is marked by its variety. Large forests cover the slopes. The 800 hectare large nature reserve area Hohenstein with its colourful plant- and animal word is not only interesting for friends of nature. Here you can discover the traces of the Teutons. In the northwest of Hohenstein lies one of the highest waterfalls of Lower Saxony.
The sights are in combination with the charming landscape the medieval churches and monasteries as well as the cities Rinteln and Hameln. In the nature park famous spas and health resorts are situated, like for example Bad Pyrmont. An abundance of leisure time activities are offered for the visitor: swimming, golf courses, water sports, cycle ways, winter sports and so on.
