Bonn/Grafenau/Brussels, 16. Mai 2007
Press Release Bonn/Grafenau/Brussels 16th of Mai 2007
New Website for the European Nature Parks www.european-parks.org goes online
The association of German Nature Parks (VDN) together with EUROPARC Federation is presenting the diversity of the European Nature Parks and their various recreational purposes on the new website, www.european-parks.org. The Association of German Nature Parks (VDN) is the umbrella organisation of the German Nature Parks. EUROPARC Federation is a Europe wide acting, politically independent, non-profit umbrella organisation that represents, supports and advances the whole spectrum of protected areas in Europe.
The development of the new European Nature Parks Website was financially supported by the Alfred Toepfer foundation F.V.S. The goal of the internet portal is to advance the communication amongst the protected areas in Europe and their European umbrella organisations, as well to give the Nature Parks the possibility to post their offerings and activities on a European scale.
This portal is the first to be offering nature interested people a service orientated access to the European Nature Parks. Numerous offerings and information like for example, hiking or canoe-tours and complete travel packages make the internet site very interesting and useful for the user.
The responsible authorities or bodies and umbrella organisations of the Nature Parks in the European member states can upload and manage the content for their protected areas free of charge through an easy to use Content Management System.
“We wish and hope for a strengthening of the Nature Parks on the European level through the new website.”, is accented by Richard Blackman, deputy-director of EUROPARC Federation, in Brussels and Ulrich Köster, director of the Association of German Nature Parks in Bonn.
For the start of the new quadrilingual (German, English, French, Spanish) website, all German and Austrian Nature Parks will be presenting themselves in all four languages. The Nature Parks from other European member states will be invited to present their Nature Parks through this website, to a broad European public.
